UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER 2016
Christmas sweaters have now become a “thing” but not in a good way. It has become cool to wear the ugliest Christmas sweater you can, but I like the sweaters of old. They were just a way to express your love of Christmas in a fashion statement. Okay, maybe that statement was not the most stylish, but it was still fashion. National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day has grown to be an international event. Now occurring on the third Friday of December, the celebration gives holiday lovers worldwide a chance to wear their ugly Christmas sweaters.
A lot of people who participate in the Ugly Christmas Sweater Day will make their sweaters. They take an old sweater and embellish it to the point of excess. Some just find the silliest Christmas sweater they can find and wear that. I am just wearing some that I have been guilty of wearing in the past and loving how they looked. This sweatshirt is one that “I” painted of the manager scene. I have no idea how old this shirt is, probably at least 15-20 years old. Lol!
How about channeling Mrs. Claus? I found this sweater at Walmart and I thought it was cute in the ugliest way! Hahaha I have seen others post a sweater similar to this one but they had the long sleeve version. I wore a long sleeve white top under the sweater to keep me warm. It was a high of 23 today. Brrrrrr!
And now for the “Christmas Sweaters” from my readers. Notice that I didn’t say “ugly,” I don’t think ANY of them are ugly. I love this post and I am so glad that these ladies decided to join me today.

This has been fun! Now I am off to see Mr. Claus and see what he is wanting for his Christmas present. Lol!

I think wceryone looks kind of cute!
Hi Tania and the Christmas ladies,
I think you are living treasures in your Santa outfits, I love themes, you all get a big thank you for your Christmas spirit.
You have brought a smile to many people that you have been with now and over the years. Good on you! Go girls?
Wasn’t everyone cute in their sweaters? I had a lot of fun with this post. I have a package ready to come your way on Monday. I have no idea how long it will take to ship but be on the lookout.
Hi Tania, thank you, I have just sent an email update, I shall keep a lookout for the package?
Love, Love,, LOVE your red boots!
Is there anything you don’t look good in?
Hahaha! That made me laugh!
So much fun! I’m wearing a “lovely” puff painted sweatshirt from the early 90s today. I believe the scene on it is from Mary Englebright. For the record, my husband used to order these for our family, not me. I’m more preppy and would’ve picked out shirts from LL Bean and had them monogrammed. Chip is such a girl sometimes…a 6’7″ girl. ROFL But I love him all the more for ordering these for our family all those years ago.
And, I’m done! My daughter, Sydney, and I, went 15 school days wearing Christmas themed outfits, with no repeats!
I can’t believe I couldn’t get those pictures uploaded. I am such a computer novice. WOW! 6’7″, that is crazy. I thought my son was tall at 6’4″!!!
Oh thanks for doing this post, Tania! SO FUN! And it makes “sister-hood”! I love the one you painted! (I’d LOVE to see more of your paintings!) And I really like the first one w/the poinsettias on it! Have a super fun, highly blessed 9th day before Christmas!
Love this! Everyone is having such a good time. I have on my Rockettes Christmas Shirt today but don’t consider it ugly! Thanks again Tania for your fabulous post!
That sounds like a fun shirt!!! ?
My mom made me one that was beautiful. It was a Christmas tree and had a lighting pack so the tree would light up. I don’t think they’re ugly. Everyone is too worried about looking elegant all the time. Have some fun people! Christmas is better with bling!
Enjoyed seeing everyone version of ugly. Some I remember from long ago.
I really don’t ever consider Christmas apparel ugly, I just LOVE Christmas. But since it was the day of Ugly Sweaters, I thought we could play along.
That first sweater you were wearing with the poinsettias was cute!
