WEAR WHAT YOU WANT NO MATTER YOUR AGE

It was a busy day for me here yesterday. My poor son has been down with an inner ear infection for three days, and it is not getting any better. If you’ve ever had a bad ear infection, then you know how painful those are. I figured that he wouldn’t be going to work yesterday, because you can’t even sit up when your ear hurts that bad. So, when I called him Friday morning to see how he was feeling, he told me that I was going to have to go into work for him and do the payroll.

It has been a long time since I’ve done the payroll, and I was a tad bit worried that I would mess it up. People understand when it comes to most things, but they can get testy if you mess up their paycheck. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, and no one had any complaints. I did call to check on my son once I got home from work, and I found out that he had gone back to the doctor again today, and they gave him a shot. I am crossing my fingers that the shot helps and that he finally gets some sleep tonight.

I am going to try and write a quick post tonight because it is storming right now. The electricity has already flickered twice, and usually, if it flashes again, it goes out for a long time. My Friday outfit (here) was a casual t-shirt and jeans, so I thought that I would bring you another casual look for Saturday. This cutesy ruffle top is one that I bought to wear for the 4th of July, but I bought too big of a size. I have this pinned in the back to make it fit me, but I wanted to make sure that you don’t make the same mistake that I did.

I like the ruffle detail on this top, and the fact that this could be worn off the shoulder also. The deep scoop neckline is flattering, and the length of the top is perfect for pairing with shorts or jeans. This top is a linen blend, and it is machine washable in cold. I ordered the large, but I should have ordered the medium.

I wanted to add a little fun with my large Hilty hoop earrings with the pearl dangles. I love how they sway back and forth, and how the pearl dangles dance. These are large and oversized, but they are not heavy. The dainty Rue gold long necklace is one that you can wear with anything, and I also added the Amiya gold Pearl bracelet set. I like buying bracelet sets that you can wear the items together or separately.

I have needed a new pair of navy leather sandals for a couple of years. I stumbled across this pair, and I loved them. The rattan buckle is so cute, and I like how the straps crisscross across the big toe. This is an excellent cross between fashion and comfort. I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they fit me perfectly.

I want to encourage everyone to wear what you want, no matter your age. Shorts seem to be a clothing item that a lot of you resist. A lot of bloggers that I know will “fix” their legs so that they look smooth and tan in their photos. I understand why they do this; everyone wants to look their best, especially if thousands around the world see your photos. I choose not to “fix” mine in that fashion for a simple reason; I want everyone to know that my legs look just like yours. BUT, that doesn’t stop me from wearing shorts AND putting my photo on the internet. If thousands see me wear shorts with my sun-damaged legs, then you can wear shorts for your family and friends to see.

These red shorts have a 5″ inseam, and they are from Old Navy. I am wearing a size 10 in these shorts, and they fit me perfectly.

I have to admit; I was shocked to see how many of you were interested in RF’s latest innovation, Brow Boost. We lose hair in our brows as we age, and that is why I have always filled mine in. I have been using a brow pencil, and then following that up with a brow get. This will take the place of both of those products, plus it has Lash Boost technology, so your natural brows will appear thicker and fuller over time. There is no other product on the market that combines both the instant benefits of a tint and shape brow product with the technology of long term fuller-looking brows. So, continue to comment if you want to be added to my Brow list.

Very cute top and shorts – I love the whole outfit and it looks good on you! Please add me to the brow list. Also i guess I need to look more intently into the lash boost too. Question – do you or anyone reading this have any ideas what products to use for thinning hair? All of a sudden mine is thinning out and I don’t like it one bit. Hair extensions are not an option for me.

  3. Julia Purtill says:

Like your shorts outfit! I would like info on brow boost. Thank you!

  4. Please be sure your Son does not have Lyme Disease.

  5. Cute as always. I’m more hesitant to wear shorts in public than I used to be and they have to be at least 5” or no way would I go out in them. Around the house not so much. I too have sun damage on my legs and it makes me paranoid when I’m sure in reality no one notices or cares. Thanks for making me feel better about it.

  6. Please put me on your brow list. Thanks

  7. Brow boost list please

  8. Love to wear what I want, but I am always questioning, “whether it’s proper”!! I feel much better now and I love your outfit and sandels. Too cute. Thanks for sharing..

  9. That’s just what I love about you and your blog…you are so real and sincere.
Please include me in the Brow Boost list. Thank you.

  10. Love this shirt, Just ordered one and picked it up curbside. Love your blog. Thanks for being so real!

  11. So cute! Love it. And I love Old Navy. I just bought something from there yesterday that I thought (before I started reading your blog) I would never wear, but I looked good in it and I bought it. It was a short-sleeved tropical print (yes, I’ve said I don’t wear tropical prints) lightweight sweatshirt-y top that I tried on with a pair of their terra cotta (again, something that I never would have tried before, especially in summer) linen pants. I’m sorry, I thought I was killin’ it. They were so cute, I couldn’t resist and bought the items.

Question: is the background red in this top an orangey-red or a true red. I have a pair of red Keds that I think would be great with this if it’s more of a red with a blue undertone.

    Thanks!

  12. Love you being real with your legs and wearing shorts!!! You look great. I would love to be added to your brow list. Sounds like an amazing product.

  13. I like the top and the sandals. If those were bermuda 9″ shorts, I’d buy the whole outfit.

  14. The reason I love following you is because you are so real! You don’t try to pretend you’re something you’re not. I was one of those women who wouldn’t wear shorts. Notice I said “was”…I now wear them because I like them, and I actually look pretty good in them! Life is too short…wear what makes you happy and don’t worry about what other people think. I’m 65 years old…wish I thought this way years ago! Oh, and I love your outfit today!

  15. Yes please on the brow boost….

  16. Your legs are great and the top is just so cute. I hate returning so sometimes if I haven’t paid a lot, I’ll throw something in hot wash and dry to shrink it. Sometimes it works, if not, I pass it on.
I know what you mean about being a little braver though. We are harder on the way we look than anyone else. People don’t notice our flaws as much as we think they do.

  17. I’m interested in the Brow Boost!

  18. Thank you for encouraging us to wear what we feel comfortable. Although I have a lot of shorts, I don’t put them on often because I am self conscious. Im going to work on that! Lol. Also, I am interested in learning more about Brow Boost. Thanks Tania!

  19. Cute top and sandals…5″ inseam short shorts!

  20. Molly Waters says:

Tania, please add me to your brow list. I love your blog and how you showcase affordable fashions for those of us over 50.

  21. I wore what I wanted up until my legs became so riddled with large areas of veins and thighs that are dimpled with cellulite. And I have an undiagnosed skin condition that may be hormone related where all the hair follicles have inverted in a bazillion red bumps. The only good news is I only have to shave one small patch on each shin. I am way past caring what other people think but when I look in the mirror I’m sorta revolted…the rest of me looks fine. My SIL has really thick Hillary ankles and really bad veins and she won’t wear shorts either. So be glad you got those gorgeous gams! For me it’s not so much the shape but the massive number of red bumps. Writing this in hopes someone sees it. Dermatologist can’t diagnose it. It’s not fixed by exfoliating or cortisone creams. And it’s the bane of my (summer) existence. Frequently people ask (family not strangers) if “that rash itches” or is that poison oak lol.

  22. I don’t like my spider veins but i wear shorts all the time in the summer. I would like to know more about the brow product.

  23. In my country club community I see fabulous women in their sixties, seventies and, yes, their eighties wearing exactly what they want! You are an inspiration! Send some of that rain to Palm Desert, California where we’ll see a high of 118 today!

  24. Thank you for being the authentic YOU in pictures. We need to love ourselves and that includes legs and arms and the tummy that change as we age ???? I think you always look great and you encourage us to find clothes we like and that compliment our figure.

  25. Great outfit and attitude about wearing what you want. I hope your son feels better soon.

    1. Marcie W. says:

Thank you for being real and honest. I enjoy your posts and we have the same body shape but I have bird legs and only wear Bermuda length shorts.
I would like to know more about the brow boost product.

Hope your son recovers soon from the ear infection.

  26. Tania, I can honestly say I have never once even noticed anything about your legs except that you have them! I actually started wearing shorts again after reading your blog. The reason I love you and your blog is that you are real and honest.

  27. Donna Brown says:

Have been following you faithfully for about 2 years. Although I’m in my early 70’s your clothing is spot on for me. Have done soooo much online shopping from your picks!! Love it.
Also… would like to learn more and follow you with brow boost.
Tks for all u do for us gurls!!!

  28. Christine says:

Love to hear more about the brow product. Mine are blond n scarce to boot. Lol

  29. Sandra Vise says:

Love the outfits! Love your blog

  30. Rhonda Blankenship says:

Thank You for keeping it real. We can’t “fix” our troubled areas in real life. We are all vain in some way with our own individual issues we fight with on a daily basis. Learning to accept and love ourselves the way God made us should be one of our top priorities.

  31. Barbara Hoy says:

Please add me to your Brow Boost list.

  32. Karen from Como says:

This new brow solution sounds perfect. Currently, when my hairdresser “fixes” my roots she also fixed my brow color but she can’t do anything to make them fuller. I am really looking forward to an all in one product.

  33. I would like to be added to your brow list. The lash boost works wonders. Unfortunately, since I wear glasses, no one can see the results besides me. My brows, on the other hand, are still seen (well not now because of thinness) above my glasses. And by the way, I appreciate you being you in all of your posts.

  34. Barbara Hoy says:

Please add my name to your Brow Boost list.

  35. I hope your son is feeling much better today. As a cancer survivor, I say wear what you want! Wear what’s comfortable and don’t worry about what others may think. I do prefer longer shorts…Bermuda or knee length because I don’t like my bare legs touching seat cushions also my thighs touch so they chafe easily…but yeah, it’s too hot here to wear long pants! Thanks for being yourself!

    1. I am interested in the brow boost.

    2. Please be sure your Son does not have Lyme Disease

  36. Love the post! Love the outfit! Keep it up!

    1. I have the same shorts they are very comfortable and I wear them a lot. Thanks for keeping it real! Please add me to your brow list.

  37. I’m all for wearing what you want. It’s all about feeling good in your outfit. Next step is to show it on my Fancy Friday link up party, lol. I’ll keep on trying! Happy weekend!
