WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS
I don’t really like resolutions. I have made plenty of them in the past but I couldn’t recall very many of them now. The reason I can’t recall them is because I probably didn’t stick with them. Who hasn’t made the resolution to lose weight or get in shape? If you are skinny and in great shape maybe that resolution is not for you. How about the resolution to save money or go to church more? This year I am NOT making any resolutions! Instead, I am making goals.
I hear all the time that before you ever reach a goal, you need to first voice that goal. You need to say what you want and write it down. This is supposed to be some sort of visual method that works on your brain. It may not have any magic but I can see how it could help. I am going to be very specific with my goals and you should be also. Instead of saying I want to lose weight, say I want to lose 10 pounds in the month of January. Instead of saying I want to save money, say I want to save 1500.00 by the end of June. I am breaking mine down into categories. Health (eating right, drinking water, etc) Beauty (wash face every night, try a bright lipstick, etc) Professional (increase blog subscribers, build Plunder and R & F team, etc) Marriage (be sweeter, have more date nights, etc) Friends (call more, listen more, etc) Finances (save all your $5.00 bills, do more needs and less wants, etc) Weight (exercise more, eat less, etc) Faith (read a daily devotional, go to church, etc) Fashion (wear more color, step outside my comfort zone, etc) and Travel (go to Alaska, hike the Appalachian trail, etc). These are not MY goals, they are just examples of goals.
Other than my hair being a little flat, I like this outfit. I have noticed that I have been wearing lots of black and gray in the last month or so. Most of you know that I love color so I have no idea why I have been embracing the dark side. At least this time I did give the look at little jolt with this bright red vest from Joan Rivers. I bought this at least a year ago from the QVC overstock outlet in town. I liked that the vest was longer and I liked the black leather accents on the pockets. Remember when you are out shopping to look for special details or accents to make your purchase more unique.
While I was looking for a long vest I came across a wide variety of red puffer vests. I was amazed at the difference in cost. I am linking to three jackets. One of the jackets is around 50.00 dollars and the other two are over 350.00. Can you pick out the expensive ones? Would you pay the difference?
Flat hair withstanding, I still wanted to show you my earrings. They are my favorites!!! The Mason by Plunder. I am happy to say that I have had a couple of you join me in my Plunder team and I am hoping that more will join in the upcoming year. To join me in Plunder go to www.plunderdesign.com/taniastephens to place an order you go to www.plunderdesign.com/party/50isnotold
I hate that you can’t see the sparkle of this piece. I need to figure out how to do video so you can see the sparkle and the shine. This Joey necklace and the Hugo and Ezra bracelets have plenty of “bling!” To place an order you go to www.plunderdesign.com/party/50isnotold
I am wearing dark gray tights instead of leggings. What’s the difference? Tights have feet and are not quite as thick. Other than that, they are about the same. I also have a pair of my favorite black booties on. No, they are not the only black booties I own, but the other ones are suede wedges. These are a Marc Fisher pair that I bought at the outlet store.
If you are wondering about the tunic I am wearing, it is oneI bought last year at a craft fair. This is by Cherish. Here is where I wore the tunic in February, similar but different.
Okay, I want to give a quick lesson in fashion and photography. Look at the picture above and then look at the picture below. This is the same day, the same outfit, and the same camera. Do you think one looks different than the other? I think the bottom one makes me look thinner. I am all the time telling you about jackets and blazers, how they can make you look thinner, here is a prime example. The one above has the vest wide apart and the one below has the vest closer together. The one that is wider apart shows more gray and looks larger and the one that is closer together shows less gray and more of the red. Look how much thinner I look in that picture. It is a matter or perspective.
What are your resoutions, goals, or tweaks? The Lash Boost holiday special from Rodan and Fields officially ends on Monday, if supplies last. I think the Lash Boost will still be available at the same price, you just won’t get the free Lashes bag and mini eye cream. If you were thinking about ordering it anyway, then you might as well take advantage of the free items while they are available. ALSO, if you place an order as a PC, I will refund you $10.00!!!

I even use it on my eyebrows and I can tell the biggest difference there. My eyebrows look much fuller and darker than they ever did before. To order Rodan and Fields, go to www.tstephens5.myrandf.com Lash Boost is under the featured tab.
Tania,
I have only been on you blog for a week and I sure do enjoy it. I appreciate your candidness. All the things you touch upon is like you are reading my mind or a mini twin of me.
Now I am headed over to Lash Boost…. I am intrigued. Maybe goal one is to have longer real lashes this year!?
Happy New Years and all the best to you and your family!

My goal is to be an American NInja Warrior! Haha!! I’ll be happy if I can just keep up my regular workouts and get my inflexible self into a yoga class. I love reading your blog everyday. Thanks for all the outfit inspiration. I’m even thinking about switching up my usual jeans for a pair of Pixie pants once in awhile. Happy New Year to you and your family!!
I have read this and heard it several times in the last few days. Most people set TOO MANY goals and that leads to failure because we can’t spread our energy out to accomplish 8 or 9 things. It is better to have 3-4 goals at most because it helps you FOCUS your energy and you are more likely to accomplish your goals. Sounds wise to me and more doable!
Goals instead of resolutions is a marvelous idea and your “perspectives” lesson on dressing slimmer was fabulous. Thanks for all your inspirations and wishing you a wonderful start on the new year.

Happy New Year to you and your family. I know one thing you have done this year is the great blog you have! You are my favorite, down to earth and you shop where we all shop. Thank you again for everything!
Happy new year!! Great outfit!
Tania, any idea how much shipping would be on the Mason Earrings and Joey Necklace. Plunder requires you go all the way with payment info before they tell you the shipping. I have been admiring these 2 pieces for sometime. Thanks
Rhonda, the shipment is normally 6.95 for orders under 98.00.
Happy New Years Eve Day! Here is to health & happiness ???
Cute cute outfit. Love the grey & red together
Happy New Year! My goal for 2017 is to finally reach my Weight Watcher goal and it’ll take a lot of effort since I’ve been slacking off this fall. It will be worth it.
I have the same Joan Rivers vest in camel and love your styling. Tights aren’t for me but leggings would work. Seeing how nicely the red pairs with gray makes me want to pick up the red, too. You always give me great ideas to upgrade my look.
Great look!! My yearly goal for 2017 is to save more and spend less…First grandchild coming in January and it’s time to start putting aside money for her in a trust fund. So I will be shopping my closet in 2017! Any tips for me? Happy New Year to you and your family ????!
Donna, you just need to be creative with your closet. If you always wear a shirt with a black pair of pants, then try a blue pair or a brown pair, or even add a cardigan. Be sure to set aside a set amount to save each week or it will just be absorbed in something and you still won’t save.
My goal is to be a better person inside and out. Happy new year!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Years Eve!
Hi Tania,
Happy New Year ? You look great! Thank you for your fashion hints. I really love your inspirations too. Yes, goals are better, we can try our best to achieve realistic goals or change our goals.
Kind regards Tracey
I love this outfit. Your hair doesn’t look flat at all. Just pretty as usual. Thanks for all your posts and happy new year.
Your hair looks great ! And no purse!!!! I love the no purse picture.
My goal for 2017 is to live in the moment. Instead of worrying about yesterday or willing tomorrow to come I’m going to try to enjoy ‘today’. Life is rushing past so quickly, I want to make sure I savour every day. Happy New Year to you and all of your readers x
