Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a gray side-tie sweater and a pair of high-waist jeans from Chico's with black mule loafersHappy Saturday!!! I listened to this lady the other day talk about mindset, and what we can do to have a better attitude and outlook on life. I love things like this because I am always striving to keep my glass full instead of half full. ? Anyway, she was talking about how she starts her day off to keep a good attitude going throughout the day. She said that as soon as she woke up, she would stay in bed for just a minute. Then, once she was fully awake, she would say out loud, YaHoo!!! And then get out of bed. She said that it never failed to make her smile.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a gray sweater and a pair of high-waist jeans from Chico's with black mule loafersI listened to what she was saying, but I never thought about it, and I didn’t try to remember it. However, this morning as I was waking up, I just stayed in bed for a minute. Joe had already gotten up, so I was enjoying the morning and waking up slowly. For some reason, all at once, I thought, “YaHoo!” I smiled at the thought, and I decided to say it out loud. I actually giggled out loud when I said the words, and it did put me in a good mood. This might not be something that I will adopt as part of my morning routine, but it couldn’t hurt. I want to know if any of you try this what you think. Or, if you already do something similar, be sure to let the rest of us in on your secret.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a gray side-tie sweater from Chico'sI know that a lot of you watched the videos from my Chico’s try-on session on Thursday. For those of you who missed the videos (here), I am wearing a couple of the items from that session. This type of outfit is exactly the type that I would wear on Saturday usually. I look for comfy and casual, and I think that this hits the nail on the head.

This side-tie pullover sweater is a thick and substantial material. I liked the soft gray color, but I really loved some of the details that make this sweater stand out. The mock neck/funnel neckline is something that I love,  and it is different from most sweaters. I also like that the 3/4 sleeves aren’t tight and binding. Plus, I love the side-tie feature that is flattering as the sweater hugs your hips. This has just a touch of cashmere in the material, but it is still machine washable. For sizing references, I am 5’6″ tall, and I weigh between 155-160 at any given time. I am wearing a size 1, and the sweater fits me perfectly. Here is the link to the sweater that also comes in a couple of other colors. Also, this sweater is over 50% off the retail price.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a gray side-tie sweater with silver jewelryThese silver Easton Hoop Earrings are a pair that I purchased from Kendra Scott. I love the geometric and modern design of the hoops, and they are a nice pair that isn’t heavy. These earrings measure about 2″ long, and you can dress these up or wear them casually like I am today. The Logan Bangle bracelet with a pearl drop on the ends is thick and heavyweight. This is an affordable bracelet that looks a lot like a David Yurman bracelet, and it is a LOT cheaper.

The single silver chain necklace is something that I found in my jewelry cabinet. I wanted something small and plain to wear so that it wouldn’t distract from the tie detail on the sweater. I found several necklaces that you could wear with a lot of different sweaters.

Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a gray side-tie sweater and a pair of high-waist jeans from Chico'sThese bootcut jeans are high-waisted and have a modern feel with the wider leg flare. The jeans also have a bleached out, worn-in look that usually takes years to acquire. These are very soft to the touch, which adds to that worn-in feel. I am wearing a size 1 in these jeans, and they fit great, except that I like my jeans to be longer. These might be fine with the mules that I am wearing today, but I like wearing heels and wedges most of the time, and they would be too short with those. These do come in multiple sizes like petite, plus, and tall, so maybe you can find your size. They are at a steep discount, though, and I saw that sizes are getting limited. Here is the link to the jeans.
Fashion Blogger 50 Is Not Old wearing a gray side-tie sweater and a pair of high-waist jeans with black mule loafersI mentioned these mules earlier in the post. These are the Clayton comfort mules by Carvela, and I purchased these from Nordstrom. They have a cushioned footbed and seem very comfortable. I just opened the box and put them on, so I haven’t walked in them much yet. I ordered them because of the gorgeous gold link detail across the foot. It makes these loafers look sophisticated, classic, and also casual at the same time. These do run true to size, and they also come in a tan color. Here is the link.

I take my dogs out first thing every morning. I live on a farm so while I’m outside I do some deep breathing, filling my lungs with fresh air. Then I Say a little prayer of thankfulness & that always makes me feel like I can conquer the day.

  2. such a great sweater and I usually wake up happy and thankful for being safe and healthy. I think just recognizing our abundance makes the world a better place.

  3. Love the sweater! Don’t know that I’ll be saying “Yahoo!” each morning but I start each day with 10 minutes of stretches. It keeps me limber and I move more fluidly, less aches during the day. It’s something I’ve started as I’ve gotten older (I’m 60). I used to begrudge it a bit and think of the days I’d just hop out of bed and go. A massage therapist at a spa told me I was looking at it the wrong way. She said she does the same each morning but thinks “what a lovely thing I am doing for my body and myself”. Yep, that was the ticket I needed.

  4. Good (early for a Saturday) morning! Most times I just say ‘thank you God for giving me another day.’ Especially THIS morning as I was feeling a little off when I went to sleep last night.
LOVE the sweater, in particular the tie detail. It’s great on you! I’m new to following your blog, less than a month! You’ve really encouraged me to step up my fashion game. God
Bless and have a wonderful weekend!

  5. I really like that you have transitioned to more simple jewelry with your outfits. The jewelry your wearing today really compliments the outfit!

  6. I wake up with my dog licking me in the face and that always makes me laugh out loud till I get her down?

I, too, am retired, so everyday is Saturday…YaHoo!! ? This is the type of outfit I pretty much live in. Love the gray sweater, the neckline is so flattering!

  8. I am retired, so every day is a Saturday to me. Jeans and sweaters in the winter, jeans and lighter weight tops in the summer…my “uniform” doesn’t change much. I can’t wear anything that has wool, cashmere, mohair, etc because my skin is overly sensitive to apparently any animal fur. Otherwise, I am loving your sweater.

  9. I usually wake up happy and ready to start the day, as I am a “morning person”. Loved the “yahoo!!” idea, though. You look beautiful in that lovely gray sweater. I would love to wear a red shoe or ankle boot with this outfit.

  10. I dont think I will try it Lol, although it cant hurt I suppose.. But most of the days I wake up being happy its another beautiful day! Happy weekend!
