WHAT TO WEAR WHEN YOU WANT TO LOOK LIKE A GODDESS
It was a GORGEOUS weekend!!! Oh, my word, the sun was out, and the temperatures were soaring. This was the weekend to clean up the back patio and pool area, and now my butt is dragging. Joe hired someone to pressure wash the concrete around the pool, so I dragged out all of the cushions for the lounges and dining area and scrubbed those. I didn’t do a very good job putting them away for the winter, so they had coal dust and cat hair on them. It took me forever to clean up that mess, so you can bet that this year I’ll do better. Joe tackled cleaning the pool, and he has it looking great now.
Since the back was looking so nice, I decided to work on putting down new mulch in the front. I love black mulch, but last year Joe brought me home red mulch, and I didn’t complain. However, this year I placed the order, so I got my black mulch instead. We have a long fenceline in front of our house, and it usually takes at least a pallet of mulch and usually more.
Joe loaded the golf cart for me, and then I would pull the bags off, cut them open, and spread the mulch. Did I mention that it was hot outside? It was 87 degrees outside, and it didn’t take long for me to start melting down. I put down one load, and then when I took the cart back for another load, I went inside to cool down and get supplies.
I put on one of Joe’s golfing hats, filled a ziplock baggie with ice, water, and a washcloth, put on my gardening gloves and sunglasses, and filled my cup (thanks Johnna) with ice water. The second go-around was easier because I could cool off. But then I got hungry and came inside to eat. Eating made me sleepy, so I took a nap, and now I only got halfway done.

I can’t believe the Fallyn cuff bracelet (HERE) is finally back in stock. This bracelet has been sold out in every color for months, so if you’ve wanted this bracelet, then you better grab it now. I also added the Maggie (HERE) filigree bangle bracelet to the look. I think that these two bracelets look great together, and I pair them all of the time.
I love these gold metallic braided sandals. These are so cute, and they are perfect for shorts, crops, dresses, or jeans. You will be able to wear these sandals dressy or casual; it will be up to you. I like the “goddess” look of these shoes; I think that fits my personality. Lol! I am wearing my usual size 9 in these, and they fit me perfectly. Now, for the fun part…they are under 18.00! HERE is the link to the sandals.
Now, for these gorgeous blue and white tiered maxi dress. Whew! Try saying that fast three times. This dress is a heavyweight knit, and it has plenty of movement to it as you walk. It feels so lovely and luxurious; I found my self sashaying when I was walking. The material has lots of stretchiness to it, and it is very silky feeling. I am wearing a size 1 (8-10), and I feel like I might could have even gone down another size. This dress will look great this summer, and you can easily throw on a blazer or cardigan in the evening when the air cools down. HERE is the link to this gorgeous maxi dress.
I had a great time celebrating my birthday last week, and I hope you enjoyed all of the posts and giveaways. Psalm 139:17-18
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.
Love the sundress! And the closeup of your face–can’t believe you’re 60! You’re rocking it! As for patio cushions, we store ours in the basement in large trash bags. We enclose a few Bounce dryer sheets in the bag, as they deter mice. Just in case. Have a great week! Oh…love the category drop down feature. Handy!
Thanks for the tip about the dryer sheet!!! I have too many cats around for mice, but at least the cushions wouldn’t smell stale. I am so glad that you like the drop-down feature!
Like the dress. I too like dresses for summer. Easy to put on and I stay nice and cool. Happy to see you using the cup. Can’t wait to get my Kendra Scott earrings. Kept seeing you wear them until I decided I needed them too. Have great Monday!
I love wearing dresses in the summer! I use that cup all of the time, it is a perfect size. And, you will love those earrings.
We put our cushions in the basement as we cannot store any fabric in the outside pool shed since the animals sneak in (think mice looking for a nice place to make home). So, all fabric, including canopies, etc. in the basement, all metal (furniture) in the pool shed and outdoor bathroom. Yes, we have an outdoor bathroom, which should be finished soon. I wanted a small shed to change and maybe a toilet (for when I am working outside and don’t want to track mud in the house), and since my husband is a contractor, we now have a full bathroom (there will be an outdoor shower), hot and cold water… Nothing is small and simple with him haha! It is convenient to have near the pool.
I also worked outside all weekend, and I am so sore.
PS I love black mulch. Yes, you are right, the flowers and plants just pop against the dark mulch. I love peonies and cannot wait for ours (we have some time yet for them to have blossoms.)
Arna, what you have, sounds like what I have. It is a small “house” that has an enclosed bathroom and a dryer in it, but I don’t have any shelves. I have asked for Joe to build on a storage room that has a door so that I can put my cushions on shelves.
Hi, if I click to the Kendra Scott site from a mobile device do you get credit? I remember another blogger saying to use a laptop. I ♥️The bracelet and have been looking for a gold one.
Hummmm, maybe if you go through my liketoknowit post. I am not sure, and I really didn’t know that was an issue. Lol!
LOVE the dress! Yard looks really pretty too.
Thanks, Rory! I am only 1/2 way, but it is a start.
Love dress and sandals! Also the menu listings on the page are a great addition. I can now easily go there for outfit inspiration!
YAY! It has taken me forever to go through the posts that are already on there, so I am glad that you enjoyed it.
Hi Tania. Belated birthday greetings! I love maxi dresses and that blue and white one looks gorgeous on you. I store my outdoor cushions in very large black garbage bags, 2 to a bag, then put them on an upper shelf in the garage for the winter. Seems to work well. Can’t wait til our weather warms up enough to start wearing sundresses again!
Janice, that is what I need to do. I’ve put them in the big black bags before, but the coal dust has a way of still getting inside.
Love the new drop down feature in the menu. I store my outdoor furniture pads in the garage and cover my teak furniture with heavy duty outdoor furniture covers.
We put the pads undercover, but there wasn’t a door to shut the cats out. We will have to figure out a better design this year.
Shrink wrap, like you would cover a boat. That is what we do up here in NY. Dress loos great, cute sandals.
Shrinkwrapping isn’t a thing around here, but we did have a boat done that way once.
Love the sandals!
We put our cushions in an outdoor shed. The plastic kind that you assemble with pieces left over but it’s not fallen down so I guess we put just enough pieces. I don’t recommend assembling a shed with a man. They already know everything and never read the directions. Anyway, my cushions did just fine and the only problem was the stitching at the top came loose and a mouse decided to help itself to the batting. I was worried they’d mildew in bags but post-mouse we bought zipper ones. The only caveat is don’t be cheap and try to put in one huge old bag because two things will happen. First it will weigh more than a car and second putting it on a shelf is darn near impossible. We just too ours out and it rained. Go figure. ?
