WHO TOLD YOU THAT?
Beth Moore is a wonderful Christian lady who I love reading and watching. She is personable and easy to follow and understand. So, when my sister shared with me that she was doing a Bible study using a book/video program written by Beth Moore I was intrigued. I read a little about the devotional and decided it was exactly what I needed.
The Quest is a personal journey to help you develop your intimacy with the Lord. I watched the first video and have started doing the journal. The first two questions that are asked in the book are, “Where are you?” and “Who told you that?”
These were questions that the Lord asked Adam in the Garden of Eden but it is questions that He is asking us daily as well. It got me to thinking about how we view ourselves and why. There was an exercise where you had to list 5 things you had come to believe about yourself and then on the corresponding column you had to say where that information came from.
While I was listing my beliefs I started to notice that I immediately thought of the negative attributes I associate with myself. The truth was though was that no one had ever told me that I was bad at any of these things. Why would I automatically start to think of areas that I was inadequate in? Why didn’t I start to list the positives?
The second part of the exercise is the important part. WHO TOLD YOU THAT? Do you think that you are not worthy? Do you think that you are unlovable? Do you think that you are not beautiful? Do you think that you have nothing to contribute? Then you need to start wondering who told you that and why? Satan has a way of using people or situations to usurp the Lord’s plans for us. The negative comments could be just like what Satan did to Eve in the Garden of Eden. He planted negative (untrue) thoughts in her mind.
If you can not trace any of the negative beliefs back to the Lord then maybe you should question why you believe them. Look to the Bible and know the truth.
Romans 15:13
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Have A Blessed Day!
BTW, today’s thankful alphabet letter is G. What a perfect letter for today. I am ever so thankful for GOD!
Praise GOD, Our Heavenly Father, Who loves us Unconditionally. All Powerful, All Knowing, All Merciful, All Loving. Infinite!
Grateful to Our Holy Father, Our Lord, GOD!!
❤️???
G is for Generosity. As in the generosity of spirit that you have, Tania, to provide these wonderfully inspiring Sunday posts for us. Today’s post really has me thinking. My mind also went straight to five negative attributes for myself. And who did tell me that? Wow.
Inspiring! I’ve participated in a few Beth Moore studies and will definitely check this out for my daughter and myself! Thanks for sharing!
Love Beth Moore. May God bless you mightily on your journey.
Thank you for sharing!
The Quest is one of Beth’s best studies yet! I am on the last week of homework and can truly say that God has taken me on a beautiful walk with Him through this study. You would love Beth’s other studies and there are several other talented and God inspired authors of women’s Bible studies that you can order at Lifeway.com. I pray that God will bless you on your journey with Him, and that He will give you peace in knowing that you are who HE says you are!
You just gave me my first Bible Study for 2018. I’ve heard of this one of Beth’s but hadn’t researched it. I live in Houston and have been fortunate to attend several of her live events. What a gem she is—opens the Bible in word and applies it to our everyday living.
Thank you for your Sunday sharing —I always look forward to it. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you for your Sunday posts. I always enjoy them. Sounds like I need to do a Beth Moore bible study.
God is Good
I love Beth Moore and I’ve done several of her Bible studies. However, I haven’t done Quest so you’ve just inspired my next Bible Study. Thanks for being an inspiration for so many GOOD things.
WOW!!!! These are really great questions to think about. When Satan tries to play mind games with me, I will definitely remember this as I too think negative things about myself. I have done several of Beth Moore’s Bible Studies and she is an Amazing writer and speaker. I was so fortunate to see her in Greensboro, NC years ago. She is hilarious as well. Check out her hairbrush video on YouTube if you haven’t already saw it. My “G” words are God and Grace. Also, thank you Tania for the scripture in Romans. Enjoy your Sunday. ~Lisa~
